Proper Care for your Christmas Tree

First and foremost, THANK YOU for your support by purchasing your Christmas tree from the College Station Noon Lions Club. We search farms across the country to locate Grade #1 trees that will last throughout the entire holiday season. We know you have plenty of other options, and hope our lot becomes a family tradition – along with so many others – to come select your tree from us year after year. The proceeds from the purchase of your tree go right back into our community.

  1. Make a fresh cut. Fortunately, our Lions provide this service prior to loading up your tree.

  2. Choose a spot away from heat sources, such as a heater vent, or fire place.

  3. Water your tree immediately. It will drink a LOT of water the first day, but you will want to check the water level daily. The tree will absorb a lot of water, but if you have inside animals, they may drink the water, as well. This should be discouraged.

  4. Don’t add anything to the water. Research has shown that plain tap water is best. Some commercial additives and homemade concoctions can actually decrease a tree’s moisture retention, and increase needle loss.

  5. Check water level daily. Yes, this was mentioned in #3, but it’s the most important, along with keeping the tree away from a heat source to avoid drying out your tree.

  6. ENJOY!!! Okay, this number is the most important. Enjoy the holiday season with your family as you choose to define them, and remember to show Compassion, Patience, Kindness, and Love.
